    12 Things I’ve Learned in 23 Years

Saturday was my 23rd birthday. Twenty-three is not one of the milestone birthdays you typically think of. And yet, it felt significant. It was my first birthday spent outside of South Carolina. It was the birthday that marked the beginning of my first fully-adult year of life.

To me, birthdays offer an opportunity for reflection. They’re a benchmark for the trials, triumphs and growth that I’ve experienced during my trips around the sun. With this in mind, today I’m opening up, getting vulnerable, and reflecting on the life lessons I’ve learned so far!

    Weekend Trip to Charlottesville, Virginia

It’s been a hot second since I shared a travel post! Ever since my quick getaway to Delaware in August, I’ve been sitting tight in DC and settling into my post-grad norm. That is, until two weekends ago. Max and I visited Charlottesville, Virginia, for the first time. We had the best trip and are already wanting to go back, so I thought it’d be fun to share a travel diary today of everything we did. Continue reading

    Clear Bags for Game Day

Happy Monday, everyone! How was your weekend? I explored the National Cathedral with some friends, watched the Gamecocks upset Georgia and spent Saturday night drinking yellow hammers at the Alabama alumni bar. As you can tell, football season is in full swing. Next weekend, Max and I are taking a trip to Charlottesville to watch Duke play at the University of Virginia (one of the items on my fall bucket list). When I started making my packing list, I realized that I’ll need a clear bag for the game and was inspired to share a roundup of the cutest clear bags on the market! Continue reading

    Houndstooth Coat for Fall

    L. M. Montgomery said it best in Anne of Green Gables: “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” The temperature finally dropped in DC this past weekend. The air was delightfully crisp and I’m even more excited about all things autumn than I was before. Bring on the pumpkin spice, apple-picking and, of course, beautiful coats!

    Fall Bucket List

It’s officially fall! I broke out a flannel shirt and vest for the first time on Friday morning. Naturally, the temperature rose to the mid-80s by the afternoon, but nonetheless, the morning got me excited about all things autumn. There’s a lot to look forward to during the coming months—foliage, Thanksgiving, etc.—so I thought it’d be fun to share my fall bucket list today!

Studio Apartment Tour: 480 Sq Ft in Washington, DC

Living in a tiny, studio apartment feels like a rite of passage as a twenty-something millennial. My studio apartment, located in Washington, DC, is 480 square feet. When I first opened the door to my place in June, I must admit that a wave of panic washed over me. The empty space felt cramped, and I wondered how on earth everything would fit. In the three months since, I’ve come to love my studio. It’s a space that is completely my own, and I’ve put a good bit of thought into the functionality and feel of the apartment. Today, I’m excited to share a tour of my self-proclaimed bachelorette pad, along with future projects I plan on doing. Let’s dive in! Continue reading

    Fall Finds

For many of us, Labor Day signifies the end of the summer season. While I’m sad to see summer go and to retire my bathing suits for the year, I also am looking forward to fall fashion. Autumn is my favorite season to dress for. With sweaters, vests and scarves, the layering possibilities are endless! As I transition my wardrobe for the coming colder months each September, I find myself drawn to olive, burgundy and hazel hues time and time again. Today, I’m sharing my favorite style finds for fall 2019, many of which embody these rich, seasonally-appropriate shades. Even if it’s still scorching hot where you are (like it is here in DC!), feel free to use this post to plan ahead. 😉

36 Hours in Lewes, Delaware + Airbnb Discount Code

Last week, I took a vacation between the end of my fellowship and the start of my full-time job. My mom flew up from SC to visit for part of the week and since neither of us had been to the beach this summer, we took a quick trip to Lewes, Delaware. It was a blast!

Just 2.5 hours outside of DC, Lewes is an adorable beach town north of Rehoboth that’s known as the first town in the first state. With its quaint downtown and small-town charm, Lewes reminded me of Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls, only in Delaware instead of New England. Continue reading

August has always embodied fresh starts in my mind.
