What I’ve Bought for Our New Place

Hello from Richmond! We’re still in the process of unpacking and settling in here, but I thought it’d be fun to share the things we’ve bought for our new place so far. Going from a studio to three bedrooms, it feels like the items on our shopping list are endless. I’m trying to prioritize the things we need to have a functional space, but also can’t help myself from gravitating towards all the pretty, fun home items.

ONE | TWO | THREE | FOUR | FIVE | SIX | SEVEN

ONE | Woven Storage Baskets

We have open shelving in our main bedroom, and the shelves were a disorganized eyesore. To remedy this, I picked up ten small white baskets from Home Goods, very similar to these woven storage baskets from Target. Now the storage space is much more functional and the cohesive look makes me happy!

TWO | Bistro Counter Stools

If money was no object, I’d fill my home with Serena & Lily. So I was thrilled when I found these dupes for the S&L Riveria Backless Counter Stools on TJ Maxx’s website. They’re made by Tommy Hilfiger, come in a set of two, and are surprisingly comfortable.

THREE | Blue Striped Bed

I purchased the Hedren Blue Stripe Bed from One King’s Lane during the Memorial Day sale. It’s one of my favorite pieces in our place and was well worth the hassle of storing in my tiny DC studio and then transporting to our new home. Our main bedroom is coming together nicely and I can’t wait to share the space on the blog in the coming months!

FOUR | Le Bain Bathmat

This was one of my unnecessary but fun home purchases. I thought the Le Bain bathmat was an adorable addition to our guest bathroom. If you’re looking for a unique bathmat, Anthropologie has a good selection. However, they do seem to sell out quickly.

FIVE | Adirondack Royce Rug

I had an 8×10 version of this rug in my DC apartment and we planned to use it in our main living room in Richmond. Then we discovered that a 9×12 or 10×12 would work better for the space. Luckily, since we both liked the rug, we found it in 9×12 (on sale!) and didn’t hesitate to order it.

SIX | Two-Prong Outlet Adaptor & Power Strip

One of the quirks that has come with living in an older house is the lack of three-prong outlets. This power strip adapter has been a huge help, particularly in my office where I have many cords to plug in.

SEVEN | 78″ Cognac Leather Sofa

Our couch got delivered last weekend and I’m so excited about it! While Max and I considered this sofa with button-tufted diamond stitching from Target, we ultimately decided to go with real leather and bought this 78″ cognac beauty from Macy’s. I expected the couch to take months to be delivered but it actually came just three weeks after we ordered it.
