Fall Photo Diary

Happy New Year’s Eve! As we close the chapter on 2022, I can’t help but reflect on the year–the past few years, really. I’ve joked with friends that I’ve been a whac-a-mole since 2020. Life hits me with a sledgehammer, I bounce back, life hits me with another sledgehammer, rinse and repeat. The first three quarters of 2022 felt like a continuation of this trend, and to be candid, there were moments when I wondered if I had reached the limit of my resilience. Then, around October, something shifted. It was an underdog’s fourth-quarter comeback. I climbed a mountain. I gallivanted in the streets of Salt Lake City. I danced like no one was watching.

So before we toast to 2023, here’s one last look back at the fabulous final months of 2022:

The L.M. Montgomery quote ‘I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers’ rang especially true this year. I spent some beautiful fall days walking by the James River, and Sunny enjoyed the outings as much as I did. She’s becoming an adventure girl. In these photos, she had just turned six months old.

One of my goals for this year was to visit two new states. Life threw me some curve balls at the beginning of 2022, and there for a while, I didn’t think I’d achieve the goal. However, I managed to pull it off in Q4. In mid-October, I traveled to West Virginia for the first time. The morning light was magnificent at my inn in Charles Town.

This chaotic photo is a good depiction of our trip to a dog-friendly pumpkin patch near Richmond. I thought Sunny would be nervous to get on the hay ride, but she loved every second of it, along with the corn maze. Much to her dismay, we are not moving to a farm!

We were spoiled with another visit from my friend Jaya. Upon picking her up from the train station, Sunny immediately jumped in her lap in the front seat and insisted on sitting that way the whole ride home.

At the beginning of November, I celebrated my 26th birthday. I started my day with a mani/pedi and a matcha latte from Starbucks. Then, I had the ultimate treat: a hot stone massage at Scents of Serenity Organic Spa.

To cap off my birthday festivities, I checked tea at The Jefferson off of my Richmond bucket list.

It was in the mid-60s one day in November, which I took full advantage of knowing that my view the next day would be…

…snowy Salt Lake City!

I spent five days in Utah for a work event. After months of fast and furious planning, it was rewarding to see the 2,500-person event come to life! The whole night was magical, but I particularly loved the stage design.

In late November, Sunny got spayed. Poor thing hated wearing the cone but did much better once I swapped it out for a onesie that covered her wound.

I ended Q4 with a bang, thanks to my friend Shivani’s EPIC wedding week. It was my first time attending an Indian wedding and it was the coolest life experience. I had the time of my life doing the dandiya, shout-singing Drake (the bride’s favorite), and trying to steal the groom’s shoes (an Indian tradition)!
